Hearthward K9 matches trained family protection dogs with households across the United States. Our name says what we care about most: the hearth—your home and the people in it—and the ward, a steady guardian who protects it. We believe a good protection dog is first a calm, trustworthy family dog, and only then a deterrent.
Hearthward K9 was previously known as Topcha K9 (protections.dog). The new name reflects our focus on family and home protection for U.S. households.
What we believe
- Temperament first. Clear-headed, social dogs make safe protection dogs. A dog that cannot relax around children and guests is the wrong dog for a family.
- Control over aggression. Reliable obedience—especially the “out” and recall—matters more than a dramatic bite.
- The handler is half the team. Every placement includes handler training so your family knows how to live with, maintain, and control the dog.
- Everything in writing. Records, price, and terms are shared in writing before any payment.

How we work with you
- We learn about your household, property, routines, and experience with dogs.
- We recommend a training level and send details, photos, video, and records for dogs that fit.
- You meet the dog before committing and receive a written agreement.
- We hand over the dog with handler training and remain available for follow-up support.
